BrianClements-Abandoned
I went to take some photos of an old abandoned house in my town. While walking around the property, I noticed this little building parked on some blocks in the back corner of the land. This downed tree had such a unique bend, and by setting my tripod low to the ground, I was able to frame my abandoned office builidng in the curve of the tree branch. I chose to crop to a square, to place the circular branch within the frame. I'm really pleased. My takeaway is that you can think you're going to shoot one thing, but once on location... you might just veer off in a new direction, with supreme results!

on March 9, 2019Selected for critique: As stated below, there is a noticeable intention of wrapping that arching tree around the building. The square crop works well, and getting low works too - as if we are 'sneaking' up on the building. And FYI - My grandfather and dad both retired from Conoco so Conoco fed us.

on March 7, 2019FOLLOW UP: I spoke to the owner of this property.. I found out that this building was an old Conoco gas station. The man's mother bought it and had it moved here, where it has been sitting for decades.

on March 2, 2019I am glad you did the "circle within the square" - it frames the scene - and the focal object - so well!
