Our two-day journey home from South Padre Isand found us stopping at my mom's house in my home town of Wichita Falls, TX for the night. I got up at 5AM to start a drive into the country and knew the general area I wished to be to capture the Super Blue Blood moon. I did evertyhing right, but the clouds simply didn't cooperate. The sky was clear in North Texas and I saw the first quarter of the eclipse. Just as I was arriving at the location where I wanted to shoot, wispy western clouds began to haze out the moon. By mid-eclipse, the moon was gone. I'm not one to be defeated, so I turned my camera toward the pre-dawn glow in th east and captured a scene that represents my Texas roots.
